OliverMartin manufactures clothes oriented towards boys aged 1–6. OliverMartin is a registered trademark.
The clothes we offer are comfortable, soft, and perfect for kindergarten or just running around outside in the summer. Our clothes will not tear at the seams even if pulled on hard by the children themselves. Perfect for learning how to get dressed independently. The large, colourful and awesome racing car pictures, of course, ensure that our clothing is just what your child has always wanted to wear.
We only use fabrics that are at least Oeko-Tex 100-certified, with many of them even being GOTS-certified, i.e. made from organic cotton. The fabrics are produced in Europe, in the factories of our closest neighbours, as well as in Estonia.
SAFETY
More and more research has been conducted on items of clothing and their composition, as well as that of the pictures printed onto them. I have always been cautious about shirts with printed images – the ones with rubbery prints seem especially unnatural. Unfortunately, these also tend to be the ones children find the coolest and love the most. However, these rubber prints are actually harmful to children, as revealed in a study discussed in an episode of Ringvaade which aired on ETV on January 18, 2017. See here for more information: Composition of children’s clothing sold by fast fashion retailers . For us, however, it is a heartfelt matter of principle to offer child-friendly clothes that are not boring to our little customers. Digital printing is an excellent means of achieving this. The materials we use are produced in accordance with the Oeko-Tex 100 standard and some of them are even GOTS-certified (cotton grown without the use of chemical pesticides).
PRODUCTS AND DESIGN
The clothes are designed and manufactured in Estonia, thus providing Estonian jobs. We are also concerned with quality. The main seams in our products are so-called flatlock seams (top and bottom coverstitch seams), which help avoid itchy seams and tearing due to stretching when the clothes are pulled on. Our products are also free from product description labels, because these are almost always cut off, as a result of which the information is lost, leaving only little tabs of fabric between the seams. Instead, the laundry symbols and size markings are printed directly onto the products using silkscreen printing and Oeko-Tex-certified inks. All of the products we offer to our cherished customers have gone through extensive product development and are used daily in both our own family and those of our friends and acquaintances. The models are relatively snug with no double sizes, because we believe that children should wear well-fitting clothes, which look significantly more attractive. All models have also been subjected to multiple intensive use tests, which means that we create a sample product, try it on and carry on with our day as usual, running, climbing and roughing about. During the product development stage, we improve the cut, create new samples and also wash the products several times. French terry shrinks by around 5%, and so, if necessary, we adjust the cut in order to ensure that the clothes still fit perfectly after washing. As a result, initially the shirts may be slightly longer than you are used to.
PRODUCT MAINTENANCE
We always recommend washing the clothes before first use to protect our little customers from any factory dust. For red and other strong colours, we recommend using colour-catcher sheets in the washing machine. Every product comes with a small Minigrip bag containing a colour-catcher sheet. Just place it in the washing machine and you can ensure that the products will retain their bright colours even after repeated washing.
