How to preserve your trousers black colour?

Both of my younger sons go to school, first and second grade. They wear OliverMartinkids Urban trousers on a daily basis.

Although the boys like more the colourful Urbans, they wear black trousers every day, because their school uniform requires black trousers. This will put the pants to the test. Cotton french terry fabric is one of the most comfortable and softer fabrics to wear, especially if you have to sit in one place for a long time.

But unfortunately, the thing with black fabrics is that they lose colour over time. Even if you are diligent in washing and always turn the products inside out.
But now I found this great solution and it will definitely have a place in my laundry arsenal.

Henkel "Intensive Black Cloth" Sheets. Just as I use colour and dirt capture cloths to keep my laundry bright, it's as easy to use these sheets of cloth. Just add these sheets to the washing machine during the washing cycle.

The result was impressive already for the first time I washed. The pants, which have been washed about twenty times, looked perfectly black. I juxtaposed them with new pants and to my surprise, they had an even deeper shade of black.
When washing the trousers, here are my procedures to maintain the shape and colour:

  • I add colour and dirt capture sheets of cloth for all other colours except with black clothes
  • I wash at 30 degrees because detergents are quite effective nowadays, there is no point in ruining the fabric with hotter temperatures and it is worth saving energy in every way :)
  • when washing clothes, I always pull the products inside out
  • for black fabrics, I will always add this anti-fading sheet from now on
  • after washing I flap clothes to restore their shape
  • in the case of trousers, I stretch the rubber band a bit, because the rubber bands tend to tighten in the laundry

When washed in this way, Urban trousers remain representative for longer, without losing their softness and comfort.

* In this picture the middle ones are washed one time with colour preserver sheet, on the right are new pair of Urban trousers and on the left are trousers that are also washed many times but without this colour preserver sheet.
